44 “‘As for[a] your[b] slave and your[c] slave woman who are[d] yours,[e] from the nations that are all around you,[f] from them you[g] may buy a slave or[h] a slave woman. 45 And you[i] may buy also from the children[j] of the temporary residents who are dwelling with you as aliens and from their clan who are with you, who have children in your land; indeed,[k] they may be as property for you. 46 And you[l] may pass them on as an inheritance to your[m] sons[n] after you[o] to take possession of as property for all time[p]—you[q] may let them work. But[r] as for your[s] countrymen,[t] the Israelites,[u] you[v] shall not rule with ruthlessness over one another.[w]
